Description: First, studies related to nerve healing over short and long gaps with application of different guiding tabes and materials. Second, allograft transplantation of peripheral nerves and cryopreservation techniques. Third, pathophysiology of diabetic neuropathy and treatment protocols related to nerve regeneration in the course of diabetes. The microsurgery lab at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation is equipped for functional evaluation of nerve regeneration with somatosensory evoked potentials, EMG and nerve conduction velocity protocols. Standard histology techniques, including electromicroscopy are a part of nerve evaluation protocols.
Stipend: Dependent upon experience
Eligibility Requirements: Must be MD or PhD
